You cannot ship manufacturable hardware from a browser-only AI chat flow. Teams need copilot behavior inside KiCad, Altium, and firmware tooling where design decisions are made and verified.
For this experiment, we gave CopperPilot an ESP32-S3 reference design and asked for a full redesign in plan mode with India sourcing constraints. It first produced a concrete execution plan, then rebuilt the board end to end after approval.
- Research BOM and datasheets, then build symbol/footprint/3D assets where missing.
- Capture schematic, resolve ERC, generate netlist, place and route, and close DRC.
- Export gerbers and evaluate volume pricing.
- Swap six components to regionally stocked equivalents without footprint breakage.
The rebuilt board also resolved DRC and 3D model issues present in the original reference project, showing what integrated workflow execution looks like in practice.
